Binky Buns, Sunderland
Based in Sunderland, in the North East of England, our dedicated team of volunteers give hope and help to abandoned and neglected rabbits and guinea pigs. We provide a safe and spacious refuge for our small animals to enjoy life while they are waiting for loving forever homes.
We’re a new charity, put together by a small but passionate team of people who have previously been involved in animal rescue. We’ve come together to promote small animal welfare, help those who need advice on caring for existing pets and, when required, assist in finding new homes for animals in need.
It’s often thought that small animals, such as rabbits and guinea pigs are very low maintenance and, as such, they’re often bought as pets for young children. Unfortunately the needs of small animals are often underestimated, children quickly tire of their new furry friend, and parents are left with a bigger task on their hands than they anticipated. Our aim is to educate people on what it means to take on a furry life so that fewer pets need to be rehomed, however we will aim to help in rehoming when needed.
We’re a small but caring team and rely solely on generous donations from the public to help keep us going. Although we will try to help whenever we can, space with our fantastic foster carers is limited. We do operate a waiting list system so please do not be offended if we cannot help straight away. We can only responsibly take in animals as space and resources allow.
